Using the Japanese principles of Shibumi these simple works aim to encourage the viewer to pause and experience the essence of the subject matter.
This collection began after spending a week in 2022 on the French island of Île de Ré. Most evenings were spent viewing the sunset on the beach ‘Le Bois Plage’ and I left wanting to harness the stunning colours and sense of light and convey the tranquillity of those moments, through the minimal use of marks and gestures.
